Information

*When to book:

It’s never too early too book, if it is winter and you know you would like a shoot in the Spring, just let me know and we can start planning!  I am generally booked 3-4 weeks in advance, so you should give yourself plenty of time, 6 weeks in advance is my perfect as we still have enough time to plan and make sure we have everything to make your session perfect! For Newborn Sessions I do suggest you book while you're still pregnant to ensure availability. I book Newborn Sessions for their due date, then once baby is born we set up a date and time that works best for the both of us but typically no later than 14 days after birth

*Outdoor Portrait Sessions {Family, Maternity, Seniors}

are shot on location, whether that be your backyard, a favorite park, or some of my favorite locations. I prefer to shoot these sessions with natural available light, therefore early morning and early evening hours (right before sunset) work best. Should bad weather dampen your scheduled outdoor session, we will reschedule as quickly as possible.

*Newborn and Cake Smash Sessions

are held my in-home studio and include a wide variety of props to choose from. These can be scheduled Monday-Friday between 9am-1pm only. Weekend sessions are available for an extra $50 fee but have to be booked at least 6 weeks in advance.

*My Style

I like to keep things relaxed and fun. I enjoy taking a mixture of posed and natural shots so you have the best of both styles. As a parent of two children I do understand the stress associated with having pictures taken. If your little ones are not enjoying posing, then we move on to get some great shots of them playing and having a good time. Many times these pictures turn out to be favorites and your kids have fun in the process.

*What to wear

One of the most common question I get asked is “What should I wear for our session?” It can seem like an overwhelming experience picking out the perfect outfits to wear but it’s a lot simpler than you think. First off I always encourage everyone to dress comfortably so that you feel happy and comfortable throughout your session. A couple things to avoid are mixing graphics and busy designs because they can be distracting and take away from your photos. Also it is not necessary to match exactly. It is more appealing and easier to coordinate with each other. If you have any concerns about your outfits please feel free to contact me and I am always happy to help you decide!

Newborn Session FAQ's

Can you come to my home for the newborn session?

Newborn session are held in my studio on the East Side of EL Paso - which is continually sanitized, clean, and safe for babies.

Do you provide all props and outfits for Newborn Sessions?

I have a huge selection of hats, wraps, headbands, buckets bowls and backdrops. Please let me know if you plan to bring a prop or if you are interested in something very specific. There are props that I like to stay away from because they may not be safe or will not photograph well, which interrupts the creative process.

How do I book a Newborn Session when I don't know when my baby will be born?

Your due date will be your session date, so that we can be sure that you are on my calendar for that month. Once your baby is born and you are ready to go home, all you have to do is send me an email/text and from there we’ll schedule a definitive session date and time within the first 5-14 days of your baby’s arrival.

My baby is already born, am I too late to schedule a Newborn Session?

If I have an opening in my calendar I am happy to accommodate. I will NEVER refuse an older baby! Most often, however, I am booked out weeks in advance. Please contact me as early as you can so we can take advantage of the curly and sleepy stage.

What Experience/Training do you have as a Newborn Photographer?

I have almost 8 years of experience working with newborns and countless hours spent on training and hands-on workshops as well as newborn safety workshops. I offer a safe, calm environment for your precious new baby and their safety would never be compromised. In fact, I do a LOT of work in Photoshop and many of my images are called composites. This means that I am able to combine multiple images together to create a final image. Safety is my #1 priority and extreme care is always taken to insure baby is safe and comfortable.

How long does a Newborn Session take?

Full newborn sessions take about 2 - 3 hours, this includes wiggle room if we need extra feeding and soothing breaks. I believe anything over 3 hours is just too long, too long for baby and too long for exhausted parents. All babies are different and all sessions are different so this is a rough estimate of how long you can expect to be at the studio the day of your newborn session. I'll help you prepare your little one so we can get the very best of baby for the session.

How do I prepare for my Newborn Session?

Once we have a set date for your session you'll receive a prep mail that will give you tips and information on how to prepare for a smooth Newborn Session.

How many outfits should you bring for the baby to wear for his/her photos?

None, I have a wide variety of outfits that were hand sewn or knitted to fit newborns perfectly. Once you fill out your questionnaire, I will select outfits, headbands, hats, and props to suit your color preferences and style. You are more than welcome to bring a special item from home to incorporate into your session.

What should parents/siblings wear?

Keeping it simple is best!  Parents posing with their new baby should wear things neutral or muted in color with minimal designs and brand logos. Moms can wear anything from a simple blouse to a long sleeved top to a maxi dress.  Dads can go with a basic t-shirt in white, tan, gray, black, soft blue, etc.  As long as all the colors flow, it will be perfect.  Also, a very important thing to be mindful of is bra straps and fingernails/hands.  Be sure your nails are neat since your hands will definitely be shown in the photos.
